NASA has released its first image of a planet outside our solar system.

Astronomers have used NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to take a direct picture of an exoplanet, described as a “gas giant.”

NASA said it has no rocky surface and cannot be habitable.

An exoplanet has a mass six to 12 times that of Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system. NASA said it was found to be an interstellar baby only 15 to 20 million years old.

Sasha Hinckley, associate professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, said in a statement NASA Blog Post.

NASA said taking direct images of exoplanets is a challenge because stars are much brighter than planets.
